ヴァイキング時代に活躍したスカルド詩人のうち代表的な15人を
紹介しましたが、今作ではその中の1人で知名度も高い
〈厄介詩人〉ハルフレズ・オッタルスソンの作品を取り上げています。

ハルフレズは10世紀末ノルウェーのオーラヴ・トリュグヴァソン王に
仕えたアイスランド出身のスカルド詩人です。

この小冊子には「ハルフレズのサガ」あらすじと、ハルフレズの作品の
うちオーラヴ王の為に詠んだ詩を2篇収録しました。

詩は古ノルド（アイスランド）語原文に和訳をつけています。
